Horsetail Fern
11.30.06 (5:52 pm) [edit]
If anyone knows where one might find some horsetail fern (for pickin' not buyin') in the greater Santa Clara area, please let me know where they are so that I may pick them.
Accordingly, "they are a weed and they grow everywhere."
I have so far eliminated places they are not, including along the Guadalupe River

Disney World reminiscing
11.27.06 (12:10 am) [edit]
A program on the Travel Chanel about Disney World got me thinking back on working there and other stuff: walking around backstage at Epcot and walking practically underneath Test Track; scenes from the Tower of Terror whose shadow I worked in; how I had the colors and patterns of the fireworks in Epcot's nighttime show Illuminations memorized because the fireworks were always going off right as the closers were leaving MGM...
It also made me want to go to a Disney park badly.

Happy belated Buy Nothing Day
11.25.06 (11:16 am) [edit]
I f'ed up. I had to buy gas to get back home and to work on Buy Nothing day. I should have done it the day before. I feel bad.
But I would like to say kudos to most of our Los Gatos Nob Hill shoppers; the day after Thanksgiving was very very dead even for an average day. I know it is because our awesome customers were protesting against the onset of mass consumerism. I applaud you, Nob Hill shoppers!
I have been mulling over "Black Friday" and how completely stupid it is for various reasons. The biggest one of them being the whole "We open at the butt-crack of dawn for extra super-duper savings between 6am-12pm only!" thing. Why are there no ads that say, "Savings between 4pm-10pm only!"?
It just occured to me! Clouded judgement! If you are up early enough and tired enough, especially after a big eating holiday when you should be resting anyway, you will be more rash and less logical in your spending decisions.
It's the same logic of giving free alcohol at casinoes.
Current Mood: none, really

Stuff Sucks
11.16.06 (4:03 pm) [edit]
I'm in a bad mood right now. Stuff sucks.
I can't get financial aid because I only want to go to school part time. I also met a robot today at the financial aid office who only knew how to say, "FAFSA" over and over again.
I have registered for classes. Now I've just got to figure out how to pay for them.
The only time I could see a teacher to ask some questions about why I'm such a failure was yesterday and of course he cancelled.
I've since come up with more new questions about why I've failed everyone else is better than me.
I hate not having any days off. I probably should have fewer hours at work/one extra day off. But I need the money.
Stuff sucks.
Jeremy, who has horrible serrated toenails, doesn't have Thanksgiving off.
My mom is a horrible passive-agressive bitch.
Stuff sucks. I want to bash my head or something in frustration.
blaaaaaaaaaaaah........
Current Mood: blaah.

Another magazine cover
11.10.06 (8:06 pm) [edit]
I don't know what it is with me and the magazine covers this week. Perhaps it is just this week; all the covers have something in common sort of. But I passed by this in the store today and it made me laugh.
Current Mood: it's getting better all the time (it can't get much worse)

My mom's sollution to my issue was somehow leaping to the conclusion that I am calling myself a loser because I already have a degree(?!) and yelling at me, and causing me to cry which I thought I was managing to hold off on until I talked to her.
My mom has never been good at the whole warm fuzzies thing. She's better at the throw her hands in the air and shout, "What's your problem?!" thing.
My dad's sollution is "e-mail them all, carbon copy their boss, and their boss's boss, set up meetings with them all, and don't forget to pray and ask God why he screwed you again."
The comment I received on my portfolio:
"You have improved tremendously, but you are not quite at the level we require.
Good work ethic."
Or put another way:
"You've improved a lot, but that's not really saying much."
or
"You've improved a lot but you still suck."
I hate my mom. This is probably the second or third time I've called to talk to my dad, she picks up the phone and somehow makes me feel worse.
God stuff sucks.

I'm a loser...
11.07.06 (4:30 pm) [edit]
Yep, that's right. I'm a loser, a failure, almost everyone is better than me, etc. etc. There is no point in rehashing all the stuff I'm feeling since I felt it last semester all the stuff about hating myself, what is my problem? I must have a learning disability...
So yes. Life sucks.
I didn't want to find out today. They didn't give me a choice. I wanted to wait until my husband, who went to Granite Bay to hang out in my parent's spa, drink their beer, go out to eat with them (I assume), eat salmon with them and leave me in my miserable existence here.
So, it's yet another semester of college for me. But I think that might be it.
This semester and next have been a complete waste of money, I could have bought 2716 McDonald's $1 menu items, paid my cable/internet almost 46 times, rented 679 movies, bought between 271 and 136 movies or CDs, bought 15 five-day park hopper passes to the Disneyland resort, rescued 36 fixed cats from the animal shelter, or taken it to the beach and dumped it in the ocean or used it to light a big ol' bonfire but instead I did this...
Perhaps I'm starting to get the right idea, but maybe I should start getting pissed at my teachers. A teacher is only as good as its weakest student.
I have been batting around taking art education classes at SJSU plus the animation other ones. It occured to me, of course I should! Those who can do, and those who can't teach! It's apparent what catergory I fall into...
Very late for my fratority meeting.
Current Mood: very disappointed and wishing to do harm to myself outside of the sugar binge I'll be continuing on later tonight

Thought for the Day
11.05.06 (12:15 pm) [edit]
I hate this apartment so very much.
There is no damn space, my apartment is still a mess of wedding presents, and shit from Jeremy's car, therefore there is no room to maneuver.
I bought a shelving unit that only fits at an angle across the space where a washer/drier unit should go, and it is hard to get stuff out of.
One of the things that the apartment complex tried to make a selling feature of this stupid place was the fact that the oven and fridge were brand new, but you can't open any of the very few drawers.
There is no damn counter space.
and I just hate this...
my every attempt to get organized makes things worse.

Art History
11.04.06 (11:42 am) [edit]
I have to take two upper division Art History classes. Anyone who has ever taken an art history class knows how painful they can be.
So why is every class that sounds remotely tolerable not available next semester?
School is fun.
School also says I owe them $100. It's a "Past Due Debt?"

Aerosmith & Motley Crue
11.03.06 (12:19 pm) [edit]
As a wedding present, a friend of Jeremy's gave us tickets to see Aerosmith and Motley Crue.
We were walking up the long pathway to Shoreline as the opening band, Motley Crue was starting.
It was a little disappointing; Usually they have the big screens showing cutaways the band for everyone in the cheap seats with an occassional graphic to match the song. Seeing Motley Crue was more like seeing either a Satanic and/or pornographic video to the music. I don't have a problem with porn or Satanic nonsense, I just would have rather seen the band and not something that looked like an upside-down crucifix screensaver.
Plus they had a lot of pyrotechnics. An occasional one for one song, or a finale is one thing, but all the damn time?
So Aerosmith came on after. Not much to say about that in a good way. Aerosmith has the occasional graphics with mostly cutaways, and not a lot of talking or screwing around between songs, no gimmicks, and they won't play the same song for a half hour or more just down and loud with the music. 'Twas great fun, but they could have played more songs. They didn't play usuals like Livin' on the Edge, Love in an Elevator, or Dude Looks Like a Lady.
This morning I woke up with Eat the Rich stuck in my head, lesser known song off one of their sober albums that they played last night.
And then we went to Denny's afterward.
In more boring news, I finally bought waterproof and warmer clothes to wear at my freezing work and in the rain. I need some better shoes than what I have tho.
And the review results have yet to be posted.
Current Mood: alright
