Back from Disneyland
01.07.06 (12:54 am)   [edit]
My mom and I managed to 'kiss and make up" before leaving for Disneyland.

On Monday, we left 3 hours later than we had hoped, meaning even if everything went right we should have gotten in at around midnight after a straight shot down I-5. But a big rig went down, we went 11 miles in two hours, and were rerouted to 101, slightly less direct. So we got in at nearly 3am instead.

Mike and Dad had stayed at this hotel when they went in the summer and said how wonderful it was. It wasn't; they didn't even have a free breakfast. Even the Super 8 I stayed at last year had free breakfast.

The park opened at 9, which is about the time my mom, brother and I woke up. My mom forgot to buy park tickets at the AAA office, partly because they were closed the day after New Years's. So my dad went to the closest one to Disneyland, where he found out the "special tickets" were only available in Northern CA, but they may have a discount at the park itself.

so it was after noon by the time we got in the park.

So we left late, went through the asphalt jungle, AKA "Mickey and Friends Parking Garage" got to the park and waited in line for a really long time to get tickets at the door, only to find that they were not discounted and the price has, in my opinion gone up significantly.

I conceived the plan to go to the park when we did, on January 3rd. I did this based on the fact that usually the day after New Year's, all the kids who march in the parade go to the park, the game is done, and every public school went back on the 3rd.

Well, they for some reason can't do the parade on a Sunday, which it was this year, meaning it was on the 2nd instead. In addition, they decided to do the game on the 4th instead of New Year's Day like they always do meaning the park was extra busy.

Plus my parens failed to get cash.

And there was a big fat line to get the wheelchair.

So it just felt like nothing was going right initially.

I felt a lot better once I actually got on it's a small world and that distinctive smell of the ride hit me, I felt a lot better.

And I'll write more later...
