The last week: With Subtitles
08.09.07 (10:48 am)   [edit]
I'll subtitle everything so you can decide whether you want to read about it or not.

The Doctor Issue
After being frustrated about my medical card not coming my mom said "Just try going back to Kaiser." When I had no problem getting an appointment I assumed I was OK. When I got there, I was informed I was no longer covered by them and instead of $20, it was going to cost $100. And being right there and in immediate need of birth control (the only reason for the visit) I had no choice. After being spread apart, prodded, felt up and told I'm too fat, I got some birth control and was on my way to LA. I told my mom what happened. She agreed to pay half since it was her idea. But now I can get the stuff for the next two years if I want to.

The Housing Issue As I mentioned earlier, the dorm that I was going to stay in for $16/day wouldn't accomodate my new week. So I spent the night at Motel 6 on Monday. When I got to class on Tuesday, they said we could go back into the dorms. That was great. But anticipating I was going to be in a hotel room with linens, I had to run out to Target on Wednesday morning and buy stuff. That night, I slept under precariously placed t-shirts and on a wad of clean underwear.

The Class Issue
I think I improved a lot over the week. Hopefully enough... But I am so glad I went. Now I just have to work and hope (hope is for suckers).

The Disneyland Issue
While driving down to LA I called work and was able to get Monday off. That left me with the whole 16 hour day to spend in Disneyland. So that worked out well. I had lots of fun there with my dad and brother.

Wanted to ride the new Submarines, of course. But there was a 2 hour line for it. I remember when I was a little girl my favorite ride (for reasons I'm not clear on now) was the submarines and it always seemed like the last thing we did and my dad had to take me because no one else wanted to go. And there was never any line because no one else in Disneyland wanted to go on it either. Yet now it has a 2 hr line.
I also think it's interesting that as soon as John Lasseter takes over the Disney Animation Studios and Imagineering, all of a sudden there are a bunch of rides based on Pixar movies. Coming soon to the California Adventure: A Toy Story dark ride. In talks: A "Cars" ride.

The Greedy Bitch Issue
We looked for things to find for my mom as an appropriate 30th anniversary present in Disneyland. The only thing that was found was a drawing of Sleeping Beauty which we called and asked if she had. We bought it but still didn't have much else. So we knew we had to go the place nobody wanted to go, Solvang to look for ornaments. After going 2 hours out of our way, driving through tourist traffic, spending an obscene amount of money on pastries, we got two ornaments.

Of course the first thing my mom bugs my dad about is, "Where's my drawing?! Where's my ornament?! Gimme my presents! I want stuff! I want it now! The snow globe is nice, but I want better stuff! Gimme!" He gave her one of the ornaments intended to be saved I guess based on the argument statement, "If I went to Solvang I would already have my ornament right now." And when he asked if she had to have the drawing right that second she pretended she didn't.
That pissed me off when she (yes, she) told me about it.

The Cat Issue
After calling and calling the property managers about 10 times before the end of the month we didn't get any response. So the cat was not purchased. The other day I called about another issue. They said the extra cleaning deposit would be $500. So a cat is not happening anytime in the near future. Probably not until we get a house (also not anytime in the near future).

And other issues
I saw The Simpsons movie the other night. I guess I liked it. Albert Brooks was the best part (as he often is). I was disappointed Sideshow Bob wasn't in it. The animation is so beautiful compared to the TV show. We I saw Die Hard along with it.

Friday night Kelly and I are going to a midnight showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show...i hope.

And now to work yet another 12/3/9 day!
