Stormy Weather
01.05.08 (8:04 pm)   [edit]
"What am I still doing here? I have a degree. I should get the hell out?"

Because of the big storm on Thursday night/Friday morning, I did not get much sleep.

I worked my most favoritist shift that day: a 12/3/9. The girl with less seniority than me worked a 9/1/6. I will raise hell about this the day she gets more hours than me. (It's coming...)

After I started working it took about 15 minutes for my nylon "water resistant" pants and shoes to get soaked from ass to ankle. I was sent home, while on the clock to change pants.

And we got to watch a good-sized redwood tree get cut down by PG&E as it was threatening to fall anyway. It drew quite a sizable crowd.

My stormy day went considerably better after I got fresh dry pants, shoes and socks.

We ran out of flashlights, D-batteries, and Hot Wood.

Today was not nearly as torrential as Friday. It was still pretty bad.

I question on days like today why the lowly baggers make less than everyone else. We are treated like the most expendable people in the store. Yet, God forbid, a checker should have to take care of a big order all by themselves. They become very whiny.

Seriously though, I need a new job.

Neither work nor home has had a power outage yet.

Things some people take for granted ... dry pants.
Stay safe out there!
