I got an e-mail saying the deadline for grad school was February 1st not March 1st. This freaked me out until I saw the email sent two days later that said it was March 1st. Everything ever written says March.
After I stopped hyperventilating, I started looking over the application. My grades are average. My GRE scores are average. I have no special awards or acknowledgments. And I still don't know what other professor I'm going to ask for a letter of recommendation. Why did I get so hysterical? I'm not going to get accepted. I am just average. I really hate the emotion of hope. Hope is something that baits you along and sets you up for bigger disappointment. I think I can do one thing. I couldn't. So I'm trying to compensate for not being able to do that thing by trying something else. Hope is again baiting me along to set me up for bigger disappointment. I always have hope. I hate myself for it. Hope is for suckers. I wish I could abolish this emotion all together. |

I think you have a pessimistic view of HOPE. As the late Jimmy Valvano said, "Don't Give Up. Don't Ever Give Up." Hope springs eternal.
