Don't Work Too Hard!
01.31.08 (11:00 am)   [edit]
I hear that a lot at work. Probably about once a day from customers. I have usually said, "Ha ha, I won't!" And continued to work just as I had been.

Yet, at some point yesterday, of working 8 days in a row, 2 of them extended 9 hour days, and yesterday with a cold that makes life so much more fun, it occurred to me, I really do work too damn hard. I bust my ass, work in less than desirable conditions for lousy pay. And what does it get me? Not any hope of a promotion, not a chance for a raise. There is absolutely no motivation for me to work as hard as I do.

I feel icky. At least I finally can rest. Stupid winter. Stupid husband. Have you ever noticed that everyone else has "a little cold" but you never do?

No, stupid Weather Channel website, I want the information for Stateline, Nevada, Japan.
Friday and Saturday Partly Cloudy, 42 degrees, 20% chance of precipitation.

Time to spray some shit up my nose...and write my personal statement!

You have pride in your own work and that is a very admirable quality. At some point it will definitely pay off for you to have that kind of work ethic. I truly believe that.
